As a survival strategy, organisms adapt to fluctuations they receive from the inheritance of genetic characteristics and from environmental factors. This feature known as the robustness tradeoff is underlying principle in the process of evolution. In the Earth's environment, various disturbances (environmental factors / gene transformation / chemical substances, etc.) are integrally entangled, leading to unpredictable reactive properties. To become predictable is to say that the control of robustness becomes possible. I endeavor to understand and control biological organisms' environmental responses and survival strategies from an experimental biological approach. This is extremely important in drug development and tailor-made medical care, and it is my hope that it will also lead toward an understanding of cancer, autoimmune diseases, and other maladies, and to the creation of preventive medicine and wide-rage of therapeutic strategies.
