[altq 1103] Re: [Announcement] JoBS queueing scheme for ALTQ 3.0
Hi everyone,
I now provide two ways of downloading the JoBS queueing discipline
for ALTQ: you can either download an entire ALTQ 3.0 modified source tree,
or you can download the JoBS extensions separately. Please see
http://mng.cs.virginia.edu/projects/qosbox/software.html#ALTQ for more
information. If you don't know what this is all about, please read [altq
1086] in this mailing-list, or go to http://mng.cs.virginia.edu/qosbox/.
Also, I am looking for people who are running one of the following
operating systems:
* FreeBSD 4.4
* NetBSD 1.5.2
* OpenBSD 2.9
so that I can have patches ready for these OS's as well. Please
contact me if you are willing to contribute. More generally, I am still
interested in hearing from NetBSD/OpenBSD users, as I haven't been able to
test the JoBS queueing discipline thoroughly on these OS's. (One may tell
me: why don't you just install these OS'es? Well, that's what I would do,
except that at the moment, I can't: I don't have enough machines left in
our lab.)
By the way, to answer a question someone asked me: yes, JoBS
supports rate guarantees for classes of traffic (like CBQ or HFSC, even
though it's not the main focus of the JoBS queueing scheme). Actually, one
of the sample configuration files provided with the JoBS patches shows how
to use JoBS to only give rate guarantees to traffic classes.
Best,
