[altq:1964] altqd, pf and OpenBSD 3.3
Hello:
We have a box running OpenBSD 3.2 which uses pf and altqd
by separate applications.
One as a Firewall, the other a bandwidth manager.
Both on the same box.
We are now considering whether to upgrade to OpenBSD 3.3 to capture
a lot of fixes especially in pf.
But we have heard that pf and altq have merged in OpenBSD 3.3
I looked at the man pages for OpenBSD 3.3 and have noticed that
both altqd and altq.conf have been removed.
Is this true ?
Our concern is the impact of upgrading to OpenBSD 3.3
We are using CBQ, PRIQ and CDNR from altqd. We configure it
using altq.conf file.
I know that CDNR is not supported in OpenBSD 3.3 pf+altq.
But if we upgrade to OpenBSD 3.3, will altqd be negatively impacted?
Can our application continue to use altqd without any changes ?
If not, can we do a partial upgrade ?
Is it possible for us to upgrade the pf code base.
But we will not upgrade the altqd code base.
(sbin/altqd sys/altq libaltq altqstat)
Will this allow us to maintain the altqd from 3.2 while using the
benefits of pf in 3.3 ?
Can we continue to use CBQ, PRIQ, CDNR in altqd the same way as
before ?
I would really appreciate some help on this issue.
thanks a lot,
Mathew Simon
