[altq:1789] [altq:1788] newbie: openbsd3.2 on vmware: error with fifo and priq

hi,
i am running OpenBSD3.2 on vmware.
my altq.conf is very simple
interface le1 bandwidth 30M tbrsize 36K fifoq

when i try to run altq i get this error
FIFOQ: operation not supported by device
syscall error: not able to open FIFOQ on interface le1 operation not supported
by device

even when i use priq instead of fifo i get the same error
are these errors due to my running of openbsd on vmware?
else what might be the reason?
