Technology is often seen and used as the antagonist of tradition, in a power struggle between ancient and modern, \"conservative\" insiders and \"utilitarian\" outsiders. In reality, science can also be used instead to support the survival of cultural aspects or even satisfy the human need for traditions by creating new ones. What are examples of such projects? How do we mediate these interactions to move from adversarial to collaborative, and empower communities with science rather than imposing technology in a top-down
