Humans have the remarkable ability to learn and execute highly complex motor sequences such as playing the piano. However, even well-trained experts such as concert pianists are not exempt from making errors during performance--especially when they are under pressure. To address this, I would like to develop monitoring systems based on physiological signals, and training strategies based on motor learning principles. The goal is to train expert pianists to be more flexible and resilient, so that they can effectively communicate their desired musical expressions even under perturbated situation such as a stressful scenario.
