Continuator (コンティニュエーター) は、対話型および自動学習システムを組み合わせた演奏ソフトウェアです。ソニーCSLパリの所長であるフランソワ・パシェは2001年から、ミュージシャンや子どもたちを対象に本ソフトウェアの実験を進めてきました。このソフトウェアは、ユーザー独自のスタイルを学習し、ユーザーのスタイルでのインタラクションを可能にするものです。これは音楽スタイルのマルコフモデルに基づくものですが、任意の外部バイアスを考慮し、演奏スタイルをリアルタイムで効果的に学習するために拡張されています。
The Continuator is a usable musical instrument combining techniques from interactive and automatic learning systems. François Pachet, Director, Sony CSL Paris, started experimenting with this software back in 2001 with musicians and children. It learns and interactively plays with a user in the user's style. It is based on a Markov model of musical styles augmented to account for efficient real time learning of musical styles and to arbitrary external bias.
