パブリックビューイング1We are happy to announce that a team lead by researchers from Sony Computer Science Laboratories (Sony CSL) has succeeded in staging a Public Viewing Event of the recent FIFA World Cup match "Ghana vs. Germany" and "Ghana vs. USA" at a non-electrified rural part of northern Ghana. A part of the Open Energy System that combines solar panels, an original energy server, a DC-driven projector, and a satellite receiver was used to broadcast the match.

パブリックビューイング2The Public Viewing Event is being conducted as a part of the research on the Open Energy System to demonstrate the proof of concept of the distributed network system that uses power derived from green energy sources.  Preceding the event, a set of separate Public Viewing experiments were conducted in the same area of Ghana in mid-May, where recorded videos from the last FIFA World Cup were used, but this time, live matches are being broadcasted.

The next Public viewing will be held on July 2 with the "Ghana vs. Uruguay" match.
