[11/3 Conference] Two Papers Co-authored by Jun Rekimoto, Senior Fellow at Sony CSL, to Be Presented at ACM UIST 2026

Two papers co-authored by Jun Rekimoto, Senior Fellow at Sony CSL, will be presented at ACM UIST 2026, taking place in Detroit, USA, from November 2 to 5, 2026.

Warping the Workspace: Expanding Visual Access with Adjustable Reach Mapping for Humanoid Teleoperation

“Warping the Workspace” addresses a limitation of traditional first-person humanoid teleoperation, in which operators must physically turn to access targets to their sides or behind them. The research proposes Reality Remapping, a technique that expands visual access by combining a panoramic azimuth warp with an inverse transformation of upper-limb yaw, changing the mapping between visual input and physical movement.

The paper will be presented in the poster session on November 3, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).

Can People Distinguish Human and AI Agency in Humanoid Teleoperation? A Preliminary Study of Agency Perception

“Can People Distinguish Human and AI Agency in Humanoid Teleoperation?” explores whether people can distinguish between human and AI control in humanoid teleoperation. The research introduces Ghost-in-the-Loop, a teleoperation framework that enables both human-operated and AI-generated control of a robot’s voice, facial expressions, and gestures while maintaining a consistent embodiment.

The paper will be presented in the poster session on November 3, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).
