From October 1 to 15, 2025, the "Kyogashi Exhibition 2025 - Kobori Enshu and Shokado Shojo" was held at the Yuuisai Kodokan. This year, beautiful sweets themed around "Kobori Enshu and Shokado Shojo" were showcased. Kobori Enshu and Shokado Shojo were prominent artists active in the early Edo period, known for their contributions to the development of traditional Japanese sweets and tea culture.
The designs of Kyogashi were widely solicited, with 13 works selected in the Kyogashi Design category and 31 works in the Tea Ceremony Sweets Practical Works category, totaling 44 selected works displayed at both the Yuuisai Kodokan and the former Mitsui family's Shimogamo villa (an Important Cultural Property).
Junichi Rekimoto, Chief Science Officer of Sony Computer Science Laboratories, also participated as a judge. Furthermore, as part of the research theme "3D Tea Ceremony Records" from Sony CSL, the award-winning works from the 2024 fiscal year were archived in three dimensions, attempting to preserve and recreate the sculptural beauty of Kyogashi using digital technology. For the shooting and 3D modeling, we received technical cooperation from the development team of Sony Corporation's 3DCG production solution "XYN." At the venue, visitors could appreciate the three-dimensional structure and texture of the sweets through Sony's Spatial Reality Display, transcending time and space.
