[INFO] Sony and Berlin Phil Media Enter into a Co-creation Partnership Including Research by Dr. Shinichi Furuya

On September 30, 2026, Sony Corporation and Berlin Phil Media GmbH (BPM) announced a co-creation partnership to create inspiring new experiences through technology and creativity and to help shape the future of experiencing the performing arts.
The partnership focuses on several areas of collaboration, including the advancement of filming and production solutions for the performing arts, the utilisation of archive assets and enhancement of content value, the creation of new fan touchpoints, and technological research in artist development.
As part of this initiative, lectures and workshops for artists will be provided based on research by Dr. Shinichi Furuya of Sony Computer Science Laboratories (Sony CSL). The collaboration will explore technological and ergonomic approaches to reducing the physical constraints associated with musical performance, while leveraging sensing, AI, and robotics technologies to support artists throughout their careers. Insights gained through this partnership will be integrated with existing research findings to co-create next-generation programmes that contribute to the further development of music culture.
